Notes From The Roadside Book 3
Six In The Mourning Book 3 kicks into high gear as we start with a “shocking” revelation.
We find out the energy Darren and Nick saw at the end of Book 2 was actually coming from Lynn. A run in with a couple of locals shows that Lynn does not have great control of her ability and that results in blowing out the telephone lines. An unfortunate consequence when Ben and Christine need to warn them of the danger of The Silent.
Ben and Christine’s scene solidifies that this story takes place in the late 90’s early 2000’s era. Some readers have already guessed this from the few hints in Books 1 and 2.
Book 3 consists of 28 pages. We’re allowing the story to unfold how it’s suppose to organically without restrictions of standard page count. There’s also a change to the look as I take over full art chores with coloring starting with Chapter 11. The grey wash style is more muted and intended to put our friends in the foggier haze of mourning.
This book spotlights Lynn, Nick, and Darren. We find out more about Nick’s little creatures and even more surprisingly that he has more depth than his constant joking would let you believe.
Darren and Dawn’s walk discussing the story she’s writing is interrupted once again by a clawing malevolent force, this time more developed than before. Even though Darren is seemingly able to defeat it during this encounter, his dream gives way to their first dealings with The Silent. Things were strange enough before, but now they know they are in immediate danger. The urgency to find Alek has become more intense. Something is coming for the six of them. They need to meet up before that something gets to him first…if it hasn’t already…
